Pre-Menopausal Decade Critical for Women
New animal research is raising questions about when a woman's changing hormone levels put her at risk of heart disease and osteoporosis. This is an article about some upcoming research that says the period before menopause is most critical for women. "Our research adds to the growing body of evidence that cardiovascular health after menopause is influenced by hormone levels many years earlier," says Jay Kaplan Ph.D., professor of comparative medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He adds: "Our monkey studies show that a deficiency of estrogen before menopause places these females on a high risk trajectory, even if they got estrogen treatment after menopause" Kaplan says.

HRT Alternatives
While hormone replacement therapy can be very effective in alleviating symptoms of menopause, some women would rather try natural remedies.
